Meet Sophie B, Amethyst Equine Founder

& Explorer In Holistic Horse Therapies

Since she was a kid, Sophie has had a liking for all things animal and the natural world. She took every opportunity to hang out with critters of all types and sizes but the true revelation and love for equines developed when she got to ride quarter horse Pinky in the rolling foothills of Wyoming.

Fast forward to the present day, after a career as a tour guide in Banff National Park, Sophie decided to explore her true calling: she had to find a way to give some love and care back to equines.

Sophie's professional equine endeavours started in 2021 when she completed her Equinology Equine Craniosacral level 1. Enthused by this journey, she took the Masterson Method introductory course in 2022 as well as her level 2 in Equine Craniosacral Therapy.

Craniosacral work: think "gentle, hands-on treatment to help balance the nervous system"

In 2023 Sophie ventured into the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine with her level 1 in Equine And Canine Acupressure, followed by the level 2 certification late 2024.

Acupressure: think "acupuncture without needles", for dogs and horses.

2024 was the occasion to learn about horse bodywork in an intensive 9-day course with Equinology, without pursuing the massage certification.

Early 2025, after top-level craniosacral courses, Sophie is in the process of completing her level 2 CST certification, where techniques focus on gently releasing tissue restrictions in the body.

Spring 2025, never tired of learning, Sophie will be joining a super cool "anatomy in clay" class, where the students build all the different parts of a horse on a model, in order to memorize surface and deep muscle anatomy.

Fall 2025 will be the start of a new education endeavour as Sophie got accepted into the Vluggen Institute curriculum, top notch education in the field of horse osteopathy. This 4-year certification program will give her an Equine Doctorate in Osteopathy.
